Its a book about building a cathedral.
Okay, so it doesn’t sound riveting at first. But Ken Follett’s book, set in medieval England, is filled with interesting characters and much drama. What I recall liking best is that the book avoided stereotypes – there are both good and evil churchmen, good and evil skeptics. The sequel was not nearly as good and I have heard there is a third book, which I may get to eventually. But this one is great. The TV series based on the book is not bad either. If you like historical fiction, though admittedly, Follett takes liberties with history, this is a good one for you.
