#92 MADDADDAM Trilogy by Margaret Atwood (My 100 Favorite Books)

maddaddam-trilogyWhen I read this series, I recall describing it to people as “dystopia for adults”.  I had recently read the Hunger Games and choked through Divergent (which is an awful series!).  Then I picked up Oryx and Crake and it is SO GOOD. The sequels, The Year of the Flood and Maddaddam, are equally brilliant.  It is filled with religious imagery, philosophical questions and just plain great storytelling.  As I write this, part of me thinks this should be way higher than 92…I remember liking this book a lot.

Everyone is talking about The Handmaid’s Tale due to the hit television show.  That’s a great book too but for my money, this series is better.  The most disturbing part may be how realistic this world seems…the not too distant future is coming!
