#76 – Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates (My 100 Favorite Books)

Nearly every review I read of Between the World and Me on Goodreads said something along the lines of “this is not an easy book to read, but it is a must-read, especially for white people.”  I would echo that sentiment.  Humans can only live out our own experience -I experience the world as a white male, for better or worse.  It is essential for all of us to not assume our experiences are universal.  Along with this, we can learn from the experience of others – whether hearing stories from friends or reading books.  Coates book is one beautifully well-written and challenging way for us to get a small window into the experience of others.
