After graduating Penn State, I went off to seminary hoping to learn a few things about theology, church history and ministry. This was the textbook for my first theology class and it still remains one of my favorite books. I am tremendously appreciative that our professor introduced us to Stanley Grenz, as I have enjoyed some of his other books since this one. The best thing about it is that while it is a thick theology book, it is not TOO thick. Its one heavy volume, but not two or three heavy volumes. Such two or three volume tomes are not necessarily bad, but this is the sort of book that a curious college student who loves to read may pick up and digest throughout the summer. It is good for both seminary students and interested readers. For that, I am grateful.
